013 Don Bosco Chinchwad Students Attend EV conference at JW Marriott

The World Resources Institute (WRI) India, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra, organized a conference titled "Exploring a Just and Inclusive EV Transition for Maharashtra's MSMEs" at JW Marriott Pune on November 26, 2024. Students from Don Bosco Electrical Vehicle Training were also invited to attend the conference.

During the conference, Mr Ghorpade, representing the Maharashtra Government, emphasized the urgent need for climate action, citing the devastating impacts of climate change globally and in India. He highlighted Maharashtra's strategic position as a hub for electric vehicle (EV) adoption, with plans to establish adequate charging infrastructure, focusing on key districts, and developing major hubs in Pune, Nashik, and Kolhapur.

The conference highlighted the importance of a just and inclusive EV transition, ensuring that MSMEs and other stakeholders are equipped to adapt to the changing landscape.

The Don Bosco students had a unique opportunity to attend a conference on "Exploring a Just and Inclusive EV Transition for Maharashtra's MSMEs" and interact with industry experts. This exposure helped them understand the significance of Electrical Vehicles (EVs) in today's market.

Don Bosco Chinchwad offers a comprehensive six-month training program in Electrical Vehicles, with the second batch currently underway. Launched in 2024, this program aims to equip students with the skills required to thrive in the EV industry.

The institute's EV lab was set up with the support of Schaeffler and equipment donated by Don Bosco Mondo Germany. This collaboration has enabled Don Bosco Chinchwad to provide students with hands-on experience and training on the latest EV technologies.

Notably, 30 girls have enrolled in the EV training program and are expected to complete it by the end of December. This initiative promotes gender equality and empowers women to pursue careers in the EV industry.

The conference and Don Bosco Chinchwad's EV training program demonstrate the institute's commitment to providing students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, while promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.
