Mechanic Motor Vehicle Course

The two-year Mechanic Motor Vehicle focuses on training individuals in understanding the functioning of the various parts of the motor vehicle and how to work on the basic repairs

In the first year the students learn about the tools, equipment and raw materials needed in the motor mechanic sector. The student also learns to plan and perform basic fastening and fitting operations. Students also learn to dismantle Diesel Engine of LMV as per given standard procedures while also practicing reassembling all parts of engine in correct sequence as per workshop manual. Practical sessions also include repair and maintenance or cooling, lubrication intake & exhaust system of the vehicle’s engine.

In the second year, the student will learn to perform overhauling of light vehicle/heavy vehicle transmission units including gear box, synchromesh gear box, gear linkages, propeller shaft, universal slip join, and the rear axle assembly. Students also practically perform overhauling of light vehicle chassis units, adhering to the specification and tolerances for the vehicle and the manufacturer’s approved overhauling methods, standard repair methods, health and safety requirements. Students also learn to carry out wheel balancing and wheel alignment to within acceptable limits.

Students who successfully complete the course are able to read & interpret technical parameters, plan and organize work processes, identify necessary materials and tools. They will also be able to document technical parameters while also identifying and rectifying errors in job/components.
